Variegated Yellow Flag Iris (pseudacorus)
This is a strong growing reed that produces beautiful yellow flowers between May and June. It is a hardy, native species and dies back over winter producing new growth each spring. This variation has striking green and yellow variegated leaves, and when an area is colonised will produce a stunning effect when in season.
It will grow to around 1.2m (4ft) and can be planted down to 30cm (12") of water. It is ideal in lakes and medium to large ponds, but because of it's height, consideration to whether it may look too big should be taken before putting into very small ponds. Although it can make a stunning water feature plant.
This plants can be planted directly into boggy areas or into the bottom of lakes/ponds. If there is a liner, we suggest using a water planting basket preferably XL, as this plant grows tall and will need a good support to stop it falling over. Use aquatic soil, topped with heavy gravel or large stones. Alternate ways of planting can be offered if you contact us.
IMPORTANT NOTE: the plants are supplied in their rooted form. They will be young small plants (note that picture shows mature plants) and may only have short leaves off the rhyzome/root (generally winter time), depending on the time of year you are ordering. Contact us if you need to know the size of plants before ordering.
