Snowdrift Iris
Iris laevigata 'Snowdrift'
Iris laevigata, commonly known as Japanese water iris 'Snowdrift', is a clump-forming perennial with sword-shaped green leaves forming dense, upright foliage. In late spring to early summer, it produces large, flat, pure white flowers with delicate yellow markings, creating an elegant and striking display along pond edges and in shallow water.
This cultivar is valuable for pollinators such as bees and butterflies and enhances wetland planting with architectural interest and bright floral colour. Its upright, clump-forming habit and tolerance of consistently moist or shallowly submerged soil make it ideal for pond margins, bog gardens, and water features.
The planting depth of water above the root is 0 - 6" (0 - 15cm). You can reduce the depths of your margins by sitting the planting baskets on concrete blocks or similar. You will receive a young plant around 20 - 30cm 8" to 12" high, with some leaves and will be sent in it's rooted form to save on postal costs. It will require potting on receipt.
This plants can be planted directly into boggy areas or into the bottom of lakes/ponds. If there is a liner, we suggest using a water planting basket. Use aquatic soil, topped with heavy gravel or large stones. Alternate ways can be offered if you contact us.
